DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR DARK ANGEL AT NEWMARKET (12 Jul 2012) Dark Angel had a great opening day to the July Meeting at Newmarket with a big race double. Alhebayeb got the ball rolling with a very tough and resolute performance in taking the Group 2 July Stakes for trainer Richard Hannon and owner Handam Al Maktoum. The Yeomanstown Stud bred colt traveled well and took the lead with two furlongs to go and battled hard to fight off the challenge of Ahern. He displayed all the courage and class of his father to win his first group race and will no doubt be aimed at group 1 level before the season is over. Then Soverign Debt follewed suit by swamping his rivals with a devistating turn of foot to take the very hot conditions race over a mile. He is clearly a very classly horse with a lot of ability and will surely go on to be successful in group company. Again bred by Yeomanstown Stud, the Micheal Bell trained colt had the group 2 Hungerford Stakes was named as his main target. A great day for Dark Angel and Yeomanstown Stud and lets hope there are many more to come!
