The Farm and it's History

Yeomanstown and Morristown Lattin Studs, Naas, County Kildare, Ireland are set in 600 acres of lush Kildare pasture land on the banks of the river Liffey. The well maintained and sheltered paddocks are bordered by mature fields and hedges, with ultra safe diamond mesh fencing used extensively throughout the farms. Yeomanstown has been an established stud farm since 1923 and boasts a distinguished history, with such horses as the brilliant Tudor Melody and Irish Classic winner M-Lolshan having been raised on the farm.

In 1981 the farm was purchased from Mr and Mrs Levins-Moore by its present owners Gay and Annette O Callaghan. Gay O Callaghan is a leading breeder in Europe for percentage of winners to runners (Weatherbys statistics) and the superb physical condition of his yearlings at the sales is widely acknowledged. Recent major winners raised and grazed at Yeomanstown include:

Yeomanstown Stud is one of the premier vendors of yearlings in Europe and generally offers around 60 yearlings each year at the major European Yearling Sales. Gay O Callaghan also produces a number of breeze-up horses every year selling at Newmarket, Arqana, Doncaster, Kempton and Goresbridge.

In 1999 the Phone Trick ex Shywing colt consigned by Yeomanstown Stud set a new European record for a breeze-up horse when fetching 99,000 Guineas at Tattersalls. He was subsequently named Millenium Moonbeam and won at Salisbury before being a close fourth (with a Timeform Rating of 107) in the extremely valuable Redcar Two Year Old Trophy.

More recently, in 2009 Yeomanstown Stud was responsible for the highest priced Breeze Up in Europe, when selling a Medaglia d Oro colt for 260,000 Gns. at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale, subsequently this horse turned out to be Passion For Gold, Group 1 winner of the Criterium de Saint Cloud, and finished 2009 as the 2nd top rated 2 year old in Europe. Foals, yearlings, and breeding stock are generally available for private purchase.

The Stallions - Gay O Callaghan has established a tradition of purchasing fast, precocious racehorses who have gone on to make successful sires. Morristown Lattin (the stallion division) opened as a public stud in 1989, and its flagship stallion was Common Grounds, one of Europe\'s most prolific sires of two year olds (siring the Prix Morny (Gr 1) winner, Bad As I Wanna Be). His successor Pips Pride looks to have been a major loss as his progeny were constantly in the winners enclosure during the 1998, 1999 seasons, and in 2000 producing the Group 1 winning Pipalong. Paving the way for future success, Morristown Lattin now has a crop of exciting stallions made up of Approve, Dark Angel, Camacho and Definte Article, all of whom were top class 2yo\'s and should continue to sire top class, fast and percosious stock that have the looks to match.
